For the business communication group assignment, my group and I decided to do an interview on a gym in the making of a business report.
For the business communication group assignment, my group and I decided to do an interview on a gym in the making of a business report.
My expectation in completing the assignment was thinking it would be simple. My group had a meeting to discuss the questions we would like to ask during the interview and it was conducted a weeks before the date of the interview. Due to having two assignments and a quiz clash in the week after the meeting we had to postpone the date of the interview to a Friday making the business report a week due after the interview. Since most of us are off on Friday it was the only day left to conduct the interview to have sufficient time in completing the report.
The person we interviewed Mr Jonathan Anthony Tan was very helpful in providing us with information we needed and allowed us to take photos for our assignment. Not only that but we were lucky enough he could wait for us even though we arrived late about half an hour. Furthermore, He asked a staff to give us a tour around the gym and explain each studio and placing of equipment's in the gym. I've learnt that most gym don't leave spacing between equipment's and was told it is not safe to place them closely as someone may get hurt if they were to drop something or fall off the equipment. So most gym are utilising space for maximum profit but not taking safety precautions.
Even though the interview went well there were only days left before the assignment was due, and turns out writing a business report is not as simple. If information from the interview is not sufficient completing the business report would be hard, but Mr Jon was helpful enough to allow us to e-mail him if we needed more information other than what is on the website or online sources. Having two members knowledgeable about gyms they have made questioning much easier for us.
I felt bad having to reach to the gym late as the appointment was set to be 10 a.m. in the morning but still an apology was given to Mr Jon.
In this assignment, I've learnt that team work is what gets the job done. Because working alone can cause stagnancy in work progression. Sometimes a single person may not have sufficient idea in writing on certain topics. Even though a member had a competition during this assignment period he was still efficient in getting the work done.
